A Proud Moment for India

06 September 2018.

Today is a historic day for India, when India stands tall and proud in front of the entire human race. The Supreme Court of India reversed the Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code passed in 1861 which criminalises consensual sex amongst homosexuals and calls it ‘against the order of nature’..

By accepting the LGBTQ community India has taken a huge leap towards emotional development. India politically gained freedom 71 years ago, but today we, as humans gained, or rather achieved freedom in a completely different context. Today we are free to feel whatever we want to, for whomever we want to. And most importantly we can express it.

We moved past cast, creed and race a long time ago, today we have moved past the barrier of gender.

Marcus Tullius Cicero famously said

”What then is freedom? The power to live as one wishes.”

So I guess today is another day we gained freedom in a different way,
