We all love movies, no doubt. What better way to escape reality for a few hours other than staring at a screen where your favorite characters and celebs are present!

Yet, I am a strong supporter of books as compared to watching its movie.

Have you always been a movie fan and want to start reading but don’t have the patience? Here are some reasons which may help you get motivated to read more books

Cost

We pay approximately 200-300 INR for one movie that lasts about 2-3 hours. A book is as inexpensive as 20 rupees if borrowed from a public library lasting much much longer than a movie.

The visual effects and simulation of a movie are amazing yet your mind can be much more creative at visualization while reading the author’s words.

Knowledge

A book is full of information that a movie cannot possibly contain in the duration of 2 hours.

What we call 'bookish knowledge' is not only limited to the textbooks we study. Certain information given in the books by the author is often considered not important for the movie and discarded. An amazing author Dan Brown, his books include extensive research and data which is quite interesting to read but some items are removed while making the movie.

Moreover, you enhance your vocabulary while reading and not watching.

Description

Reading a single sentence of a book makes your mind travel a hundred different places as compared to one movie set where the scene was shot.

Yes, there are beautiful locations which you would rather see on screen than just imagine by reading the words, why not read the book and then watch the movie, eh?

Impact

We are taught to read books from childhood. Some of us continue the habit, some of us don't. The power an author has is immense. To leave a mark in young minds, as well as entertaining grown-ups.

We forget the movie soon but a book you've read a year ago will still be in your mind. The first book I read by myself without my parents’ help, I still have it and I still remember the one new word I learned from it.

Accessibility

To watch a movie in a theatre or online is expensive. You need a movie hall near you or a great internet connection. A book requires nothing. Go to a library and borrow a book, go to a friend and borrow a book, order a new/used book online,

This piece is very dear to me because I've had debates with my friends too about it. I'm a strong supporter of reading books over movies. Doesn't mean movies are bad, it's just a preference.

I hope this little blog helps you choose reading and motivates you in some manner.

So, would you rather, read a book or watch its movie?
